I come across many things in my day to day life do. I don't know whether it's common to everyone or not...Like....
Every night before I sleep, I will set an alarm exactly after 6hr and sleep. As soon as the alarm goes off or many a times I will wait for it to ring before 2 -3 min and snooze it and sleep again... (I don't know why snooze option is given in cell phone alarms that to typically 9 min..?) This snoozing business will go for some iterations or till the time all the snooze operations are over, if I get up in between also first thing I do is check the time. Suppose if the time is 8:17, then I will think "let me sleep till 8:30". Even if I get up second time at 8:28, I will go back to sleep and wait for the clock to strike 8:30 ( I don't know why this happens with me only in the morning, that to when I have to get up from the bed). I have observed similar kind of behavior with me in situation where I have do something for the sake of doing it, without much of interest in what I am doing. May be at that moment of time I don't want to get up but I am forced to do that. Is that a reason for such a behavior?
When ever I go out from my room or going back to my hostel from the lab I lock the door and start walking away, then all of a sudden a thought comes back in my mind "Did I lock the door?". Then in many of the cases I walk back all the way and check the lock and go back. Sometimes I will call my friends near my lab or room to confirm whether I have locked the door or not? Is it some phobia?
Many a times when I see a new place, I get a feeling like I have been to this place before. Why do I feel so? Some times when a typical sequence of events happens in my day to day life, I feel like I have been in such a scenario before even though all the characters in the picture are different. Why is it so?
Whenever any of my friend describes me about his friend or relative or someone more number of time, I come up with my own picture for that person of that person might looks like depending on the name and characteristics they tell me. In no case the picture I came up with matched with that person :-(. Why am I coming up with a virtual picture for someone whom I know only from someone else's words?
Are the above described things common with many people?

Bava blog is very nice... I don't know about all the things, but
"Many a times when I see a new place, I get a feeling like I have been to this place before. Why do I feel so?"
this is common for us. I felt so many times like this, still I am feeling in so many cases.
Nari!! your blog is nice and frank..
SLEEP:
It happened quite frequently for me in IISc. This kind of sleeping was due to
a) out of laziness (for initial semesters)
b) an 'immediate' way of running away from a problem (instead of solving the problem) (latter semesters).
I have lot of work, but I dont want to do. Some kind of fear develops due to this. I want to run away from the problem.
So, When I have to wake up, I just postpone it for some more time. But at the same time, I can't sleep properly because of this.
FORGETTING:
I frequently forget things. Some times, I forget all out-of-focus things, like...
when I was preparing 'intensively' for GATE, I used to forget locking the room..etc
When my mind was so full of some thing that even things like locking couldn't enter my mind, I used to behave like this.
Other reasons might be there.
FEELING LIKE I WAS IN THIS BEFORE:
Some times ( infact frequently), i also feel like I faces this situation before. In such situations, I tried to recall when it happened.
I thought it might be an illusion..like...
Some times (some times only. Not, whenever you want),if you feel that you are listening to some very familiar song when
there is no song in reality, you can 'feel'(hear) the song as if it is real...I felt it some times.
I 'think', this is 'like' auditory hallucination. I don't have good info about this topic. But, I 'think', in auditory hallucination, this situation is much severe, like..
you need not 'try' to hear, instead , you will hear without your intention.
The same thing, I felt, when I go to some places. But, that is very 'weak' feeling (compared to the above one), so I took them light.
'Illusion' is very very research intensive area whether it is modern scientific research or spiritual research.
One example: Ejaculation in sleep. It's a dream but it's happening truly (and in the physical level also in addition to mental level).
So, it's very difficult to say whether it is true or illusion. Conclusion may depend on the strength of your feeling.
COMING UP WITH PICTURE:
Some times, I do. It is very common to associate different attributes of the same person. We associate names with qualities also.
So, when my friend tells about his friend named 'X', I will invoke my visualization/speculative skills and
come up with a model using the a priori data (previous impressions) that I have.
But, I think, if I have a habbit of speculating more, so as the frequency of above kind of situation.
Finally, now, seriously, I feel that I had seen the last question that you asked in some blog. It's true.
why are u asking the question
"Are the above described things common with many people?"
its you, you think and act according to ur wishes... its ur brain/heart that controls all of these... so whn there are two brain involved, they do things differently.
so no need to chk with others... is this behaviour common.
i agree with wat meher said to the extent tat those were ur feelings... wer ur brain &/or heart are involved...
but u just wanted to knw if its common with others or not... i c no wrong in u asking whether others also have such Musings
I read the last para twice or thrice but failed to understand. Anyways..... Nothing wrong in trying to know or check if others also have similar kind of habits or thinking. May be its out of curiosity which we all have.
